San Francisco, CA – Get ready to dance in the grass, Deadheads, Dead & Company are bringing the celebration home to Golden Gate Park for a once-in-a-lifetime, three-night musical journey honoring 60 years of the Grateful Dead. The highly anticipated concerts, now officially greenlit by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission, will take over the park’s legendary Polo Fields this summer, co-produced by Another Planet Entertainment and Live Nation, in partnership with San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.
This anniversary blowout isn’t just any show, it’s a momentous gathering of music, memory, and magic. Set for August 1, 2, and 3, each night kicks off with a powerhouse performance by a different opener: Billy Strings ignites the celebration on night one, Sturgill “Johnny Blue Skies” Simpson follows up on night two, and the incredible Trey Anastasio Band will warm up the final night before Dead & Company take the stage.

Trey Anastasio, of course, is no stranger to the Dead universe, fans fondly remember his unforgettable role in 2015’s Fare Thee Well 50th anniversary shows alongside original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, joined by Jeff Chimenti and Bruce Hornsby. The summer run arrives just as the band hits two major milestones: 60 years since the Grateful Dead first took the stage at Magoo’s Pizza Parlor in Menlo Park, California on May 5, 1965, and 10 years since Dead & Company began carrying the flame forward.
“These shows are a full-circle moment,” said Phil Ginsburg, SF Recreation and Park General Manager. “Golden Gate Park and the Grateful Dead helped shape an entire cultural movement. Celebrating their 60th anniversary here honors that legacy and brings a spotlight to the vibrant local communities and businesses that surround the park.”
Golden Gate Park has long been a sacred site in Grateful Dead lore. From the iconic 1967 Human Be-In to the surprise 1975 Lindley Meadows comeback that drew 50,000 fans, to the heartfelt 1991 Bill Graham memorial and the emotional Jerry Garcia tribute in 1995, the park has been a gathering place for celebration, activism, and music history. This summer, it becomes a living tribute once again. These will be the first public performances by Dead & Company outside the cutting-edge Sphere in Las Vegas, following the group’s epic Final Tour stop at Oracle Park in July 2023.
Fans eager to be part of history can sign up now for the artist presale, which begins Wednesday, May 28 at 10 AM PT. Supplies are limited and registration doesn’t guarantee
