Get ready to pack your shades, dancing shoes, and best festival spirit, because the forecast is calling for radiant blue skies and warm Sierra sunshine, daytime highs in the 80s and low 90s are on tap for the 33rd Annual High Sierra Music Festival. This year’s 4th of July weekend celebration transforms the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy, CA, into a musical wonderland of camping, glamping, and four straight days of pure joy.
Since 1991, High Sierra has earned its rep as California’s beloved mountain festival where music discovery, community, and epic jams come together in spectacular fashion, and 2025 is no exception. This year’s lineup offers an inspired mix of fan favorites and fresh discoveries. Festivalgoers can look forward to sets from Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, ALO, Lyrics Born, Dogs in a Pile, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Grace Bowers & The Hodge Podge, John Craigie, The Slip, Steve Poltz, and a truly special appearance by Amy Helm and the Helm Midnight Family Ramble, marking the project’s first-ever performance outside the famed Helm family barn in Woodstock.
What truly sets High Sierra apart is its commitment to collaboration and musical cross-pollination. 2025 continues that legacy with four members of Trey Anastasio Band joining in on various projects. Expect magic from LaMP (Russ Lawton, Ray Paczkowski, and Scott Metzger), Jennifer Hartswick in her Artist-at-Large role (popping up everywhere), and Natalie Cressman bringing lush vibes in a special Brazilian jazz set with Ian Faquini.

And don’t even think about leaving early on Sunday. The grand finale brings back the legendary Everyone Orchestra, this time conducted by Zach Gill (ALO, Jack Johnson Band), assembling an all-star cast for a 100% improvised, only-at-High-Sierra jam session under the stars. Expect fierce solos, off-the-wall mashups, and the kind of communal musical magic that festival legends are made of. But the High Sierra experience is more than just music, it’s a full-on playground for the soul.
The festival’s 2025 upgrades promise even more comfort and delight:
· The Lagniappe Lounge, an all-new indoor venue with lounge seating, cocktails, and full music programming (plus blessed shade!)
· Later start times and more shade at the Grandstand Stage for those hot afternoons
· The debut of The Happy Glamper, a premium, climate-controlled glamping option for those who want comfort with their jam sessions
· An expanded FestivALL VIP Pass with more perks than ever
Beyond the stages, the festival is a living, breathing celebration of art and community. Wander through artist playshops and Troubadour Sessions. Start your day with yoga and healing arts. Jump into a themed parade or the famous Dr. Bronner’s foam experience. Sip local wine and spirits. Browse the artisan marketplace for unique finds.

For families, High Sierra shines as an all-ages adventure. The Family Village offers daily kids’ music and creative activities, plus professional childcare from Rockin’ Nannies—so parents can truly soak up the vibe knowing the little ones are having the time of their lives.
Festival producer Dave Margulies sums it up perfectly: “We’re not chasing big-name headliners. We’re building community and celebrating the music we love. Anyone on this lineup could be your next favorite band, that’s what makes High Sierra so special.”
Indeed, after three decades of unforgettable music, forged friendships, and mountain-town magic, High Sierra remains one of California’s most beloved music gatherings. This year promises to continue the tradition of memories made, souls inspired, and hearts opened.
