Global Green USA was thrilled to host its 10th annual Gorgeous & Green Gala on Friday, October 10, at the LEED-certified Bently Reserve in San Francisco. A star-studded evening showcasing the reimagined green sustainable city, Emerald City was hosted by actress Goldie Hawn, actress Vanessa Hudgens, actress Connie Nielsen, actress Dawn Olivieri, actor Navid Negahban, actor Paul Hipp, and fashion host and lifestyle expert Louise Roe, host of E! News Catt Sadler, and other additional celebrities.
Global Green USA is dedicated to helping the people, places, and the planet in need through catalytic projects, transformative policy, and cutting-edge research. Global Green USA’s signature programs include greening affordable housing, schools, neighborhoods, and cities as well as rebuilding communities—such as New Orleans and areas of New York and New Jersey—that have suffered from the impacts of climate change, rising sea levels, and environmental degradation. Global Green USA is the U.S. affiliate of Green Cross International, which was founded by President Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993 to foster a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure future.The event was sposored by Replete Skincare and FSHN Magazine was one of the main media spoonsors. Elisabeth Thieriot the publisher of FSHN Magazine was one of the major individual contributors to the event.
The glamorous event was a spectacular celebration featuring a cocktail reception with eco-friendly wine, cocktails, and beverages. Guests savored an elegant gourmet organic dinner prepared by Dominique Crenn—the only female chef in America with two Michelin Stars for her restaurant Atelier Crenn—with a special first course prepared by Parke Ulrich, Executive Chef of Epic Roasthouse and Waterbar, and mouthwatering desserts from Ethan Howard, Executive Pastry Chef at Cavallo Point.
In addition, guests enjoyed a live auction, a musical performance by Broadway star and recording artist Shoshana Bean, famous for her portrayal of Elphaba in WICKED, Cirque de Soleil performers, an eco-couture runway fashion show featuring stunning gowns with rich emerald hues in honor of the event’s theme, runway music by DJ David Carvalho, Boutique DJs, and a dazzling soiree to round out the evening. An impressive live auction featured the first all-electric Volkswagen e-Golf, an original painting from acclaimed artist Zio Ziegler, and packages from One & Only Resorts, Post Ranch Inn, and Ashley Morgan Designs, and more. Guests were treated to a plethora of eco-friendly beverages from 360 Vodka, Defiant Whisky, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, a Certified California Sustainable Vineyard & Winery and the official wine sponsor for the dinner, Korbel Organic Brut Champagne, Mateveza, and VeeV Spirit.
Proceeds from the event benefited Global Green USA’s national programs devoted to implementing smart solutions for climate change, including waste diversion and building green and resilient communities. It was a great success as it raised over $400,000 for the organization which was also celebrating its 20th anniversary. What’s more, the entire Emerald City gala was a target zero waste event.
