Celebrated New York City-based fashion designer, Carmen Marc Valvo, visited Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco last week to kick-off the Bay Area Arthritis Auxiliary Benefit and Fashion Show on October 1, 2014 at the Fairmont San Francisco. Over 100 Arthritis Foundation supporters and Bay Area fashionistas descended on the Fur Salon at Saks Fifth Avenue that had been transformed into an elegant runway to showcase spectacular fur and couture creations from Carmen Marc Valvo’s 2014 Fall Collection. Carmen Marc Valvo, celebrating his 25th Anniversary at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City on September 5, is planning to recreate that milestone show in San Francisco.
In the audience was 15-year old Bay Area resident Brooke Christian, the 2014 Youth Honoree for the upcoming Bay Area Arthritis Auxiliary Benefit and Fashion Show. Brooke and Carmen discussed the debilitating effects of Juvenile Arthritis on her life. Carmen Marc Valvo surprised the beautiful young woman by announcing that he is designing a one-of-a-kind dress for her that she will model on the runway in San Francisco. In fact, she excitedly learned she is slated to walk the runway with Carmen as the grand finale of the Benefit and Fashion Show on October 1, 2014. In addition, Carmen invited her, along with her mother and younger sister, to attend his New York City runway show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. During the trip, Brooke will visit the Carmen Marc Valvo atelier in the heart of the Garment District and participate in model fittings. Carmen truly wants to create a dream experience for such a courageous and beautiful young woman.
